Who We Are

IDCHS is a non-governmental organization working with young people and youth organizations to promote the prevention of drug abuse based on scientific evidence as an investment in the wellbeing of children, adolescent, youth, families and communities. We also strengthen cooperation with the scientific community, including academia, and promote scientific research in drug demand and supply reduction policies in order to find effective solutions to the world drug problem. Our aim is to reduce the negative health, social and human rights impacts of drug use and drug policy by promoting evidence-based public health policies and practices, and human rights based approaches to drugs.

Illicit substance or drug production, trafficking and consumption is effectively governed with appropriate actions in Sierra Leone

Mission

Lead evidence based advocacy for policy reform through effective engagement with stakeholders on drug prevention education and treatment of addictions and abuse.

Objectives
  1. Create awareness and advocate on the rights of children and youth particularly as set out in the UN convention on the Rights of the Child, the Sierra Leone Child Right Act, and the Sierra Leone Youth Policy
  2. Reduce the negative health, social and human rights impacts of drug use and drug policy by promoting evidence-based public health policies and practices, and human rights based approaches to drugs.
  3. Promote Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  4. Promote Community Safety and environmental sustainability and
  5. Promote political accountability
